He marries and then quickly abandons sweet, bubbly Monica (Elizabeth Ashley) ; turns his young, attractive stepmother, Rina (Carroll Baker), into a self-destructive actress; and manages to disappoint even his closest friend, cowboy movie star Nevada (Alan Ladd).
