"My Friend Irma" is a 1949 comedy film directed by George Marshall, based on the popular radio series of the same name. The film stars Marie Wilson as Irma Peterson, a naive and scatterbrained young woman, and Diana Lynn as her sensible and level-headed roommate, Jane Stacy.

The plot revolves around the misadventures of Irma, who constantly gets herself and Jane into comical situations due to her well-meaning but misguided actions. Jane is dating a struggling but ambitious singer named Steve Laird (Dean Martin), who is friends with an easygoing and dimwitted fellow named Seymour (Jerry Lewis).

As Steve tries to make it big in show business, Irma’s bumbling interference often complicates matters, leading to a series of humorous misunderstandings and predicaments. Despite the chaos Irma causes, her good heart and the loyalty of her friends help them navigate the ups and downs of life.

The film marked the screen debut of the comedy duo Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, whose performances added to the film's charm and success. Their chemistry and comedic timing contributed significantly to the movie's popularity and paved the way for their subsequent film career together.
